
Mirzapur is an Indian web series released on 16th November 2018. This crime thriller is available in the Hindi language only on Amazon Prime.
Mirzapur Season 1 was written by Karan Anshuman along with Vineet Krishna and Puneet Krishna. The series directors are Karan Anshuman, Mihir Desai, and Gurmeet Singh.
The whole plot of the series is based in the city of Mirzapur. The series’ main characters are Akhandanand Tripathi, Munna Tripathi, Guddu Pandit, and Bablu Pandit. Pankaj Tripathi plays the character of Akhandanand Tripathi, the millionaire and dictator of Mirzapur. Divyendu Sharma plays the character of Munna Tripathi, the only son of Akhandanand Tripathi. Ali Fazal is playing the role of Guddu Pandit. Vikrant Massey plays the character of Bablu Pandit.
The series has gained enormous popularity in India due to its interesting plot and well-written characters. On top of this, the show’s cast made the characters look more exciting and realistic. The show has also won and was nominated for numerous awards, for instance, Best Drama Series, Best Actor Drama (Pankaj Tripathi), Best Supporting Actress (Rasika Dugal), and Best Supporting Actor (Divyendu Sharma).
The filming of Mirzapur was done in various parts of Uttar Pradesh, including Varanasi, Raebareli, Jaunpur, Lucknow, Gorakhpur, Azamgarh, Ghazipur including Mirzapur.
Mirzapur Season 1
The first season of Mirzapur was released on 16 November 2018. There are a total of 9 episodes with an average running time of 45 minutes. Episode 1: “Jhandu”
The first episode is named Jhandu. This episode will introduce you to the different characters of the series. The first episode is the base on which all the remaining eight episodes will depend. Akhandanand Tripathi is the ruler of Mirzapur. His son Munna shoots a bride. Ramakant Tripathi is a lawyer who takes the case against Munna. Munna visits his house, where a fight breaks out between him and Ramakant Tripathi’s sons (Guddu and Bablu).
Episode 2: “Gooda”
The second episode is named Gooda. Because of the drama that happened last night, Akhandanand Tripathi seems impressed by the courage of Guddu and Bablu. For this reason, he offers Guddu and Bablu to join him. Thinking that if they joined Akhandanand Tripathi, they would be able to protect their family, they couldn’t reject the offer.
Episode 3: “Wafadar”
In this episode, we will be introduced to Rati Shankar Shukla and how he is related to Akhandanand Tripathi. Rati Shakar Shukla comes out as the enemy of Akhandanad Tripathi, and every now and then, he attacks Akhandanand Tripathi and his family. Rati asks his son Sharad to join him in destroying Akhandanand Tripathi, but he denies it by saying that he wants to go for M.tech.
Episode 4: “Virginity”
In this episode, Guddu and Bablu get familiar with the distribution system of guns. Akhandanand Tripathi asks them to increase his business. For the first time after joining Akhandanand Tripathi, Guddu and Bablu shoot someone. They are assigned a task in which they have to make a truck full of dead bodies and opium cross the border of Mirzapur.
Episode 5: “Bhaukaal”
The fifth episode is Bhaukaal. Guddu and Bablu start making a profit soon after they join Akhandanand Tripathi. However, Munna feels sidelined by his father as he thinks Kaleen Bhaiya would take revenge on them after they had beaten Munna, but he offers them to join him.
Episode 6: “Barfi”
After successfully running the gun business, Akhandanand Tripathi introduces Guddu and Bablu with his other business, which is exporting carpet. Guddu and Bablu get shocked after knowing that Kaleen Bhaiya exports opium behind the garb of a carpet. Here, they denoted opium with the name Barfi.
Episode 7: “Lions of Mirzapur”
The seventh episode is named Lions of Mirzapur. In this episode, IG is sent to Mirzapur to reduce the crime. For this reason, he orders some of the special cops to kill Guddu and Bablu. Guddu and Bablu are forced to go underground near the Bihar border. From there, Guddu and Bablu visit Jaunpur and meet Rati Shankar Shukla.
Episode 8: “Tandav”
Guddu kills Rati Shakar Shukla, the gangster of Jaunpur. Angry Akhandanand Tripathi calls Guddu and Bablu and scolds them for shooting Rati Shakar Shukla. Munna, who is after Guddu and Bablu from the first episode, persuades Akhandanand Tripathi to allow him to kill them.
Episode 9: “Yogya”
The ninth and last episode is named Yogya. This episode leaves us with several unanswered questions. We are likely to get the answers in season 2. Munna gets permission to kill Guddu and Bablu, after which he arrives in a wedding hall and shoots Bablu and Sweety.
