Extended Plot

Panchayat Season 1 Episode 1 starts with a scene where Abhishek migrates to Phulera village by bus. Remembering his previous conversation with his close friend Prateek, he soon sleeps on the bus after irritating the bus conductor with his questions about when they will reach Phullera.

After 2 minutes of the episode, we get to know that Abhishek is joining the village panchayat as a secretary but he has no willingness to join it. The reason that he gave for joining the secretary position is his college. The college in which he studied does not provide good placement. For that reason, he filled out numerous forms. He also filled out the form for the secretary role. Because of the less competition, Abhishek got selected with a monthly salary of 20,000 Rupees.

Phulera village arrives. Abhishek gets off at the bus stop. He has a red bike. Taking his bike and putting all his luggage on it, he heads over to Phulera village. Chandan and Prahalad are eagerly waiting for Abhishek with some sweets outside the panchayat office. After a while, Mukhiya of the village arrives. Before coming to the village, Abhishek was very much sure that the mukhiya of the village is a female but eventually he discovered that because of the reservation the government was offering to women Brij Bhushan put his wife in the election. Manju Devi is the mukhiya only in name. Brij Bushan handles everything related to the panchayat.

Anyway, when Brij Bushan arrives, Abhishek asks for the key to the panchayat office so that they can open the office door. But Brij Bhushan had lost it somewhere. Therefore they start searching for the key to the places where Brij Bushan has visited but they could not find it. Tired from the journey, Abhishek asks them to break the lock. But Brij Bhushan says that he could not break it because Manju Devi has received the lock from her family in dowry. They then decide to call a locksmith. Brij Bhushan orders Vishal to bring a locksmith with him on Abhisekh’s bike. At first, Abhishek hesitates to give the bike, eventually, he gets ready.

Meanwhile, Abhishek visits a shop with the help of directions that he was asking from the people he meets on his way. Every time he met someone, he faced a similar question, who are you from? He soon finds a shop and buys a cream biscuit there. He gets to meet with his first client who is a laborer. He asks Abhishek to compensate him for the work that he had done previously for the panchayat office. Abhishek asks him to meet the next morning.

When Abhishek revisits the panchayat office he finds out that Vishal arrives with nothing but broken his bike’s headlight. The story that he tells Abhishek was hilarious. He tells him that the locksmith was with him when he was returning but in the midst of the path the locksmith gets a phone call from his wife who was about to deliver a baby, for this reason, he sped up his bike, meanwhile collided with a buffalo. For this reason one of the headlights of the bike got broken. Frustrated, Abhishek orders him to call Brij Bhushan and asks him to come with some equipment like a hammer or something for breaking the lock.

Manju Devi who is against breaking the lock eventually gets ready to break it because of her daughter. Brij Bushan says that Abhishek has no place to live and the locksmith will not arrive for 2 or 3 days until then they have to help him by making a room for him in the house. Manju Devi is against the idea of giving rooms to strangers as they have a young daughter inside the home. Not only does she permit to break the lock but also she asks Brij Bushan to invite Abhishek for dinner.

At night they try to break the lock but instead of breaking the lock, the door breaks. The first look at the office is heartbreaking and devastating for Abhishek. He has never expected this much of files and dust in the office, but anyway he has to work here. He calls his friend and tells him that he can not take it anymore and desperately wants to get out of her. Listening to his problems, Prateek advises him to go for the CAT exam but for this, he had to give 3 to 4 hours each day after office. Abhishek asks him to send all the related books. While they are talking, the whole village falls into darkness after the power is cut.
